What actually helps the pain?

  • Paracetamol and laying flat.
  • Pain killers, hot water bottles. Sometimes absolutely nothing. Not. A. Single. Thing.
  • Rest, painkillers, kindness, understanding.
  • Time mainly! Ibuprofen helps a bit. Hydration. Sleep. Food.
  • Not a lot to be honest! Taking it easy, paracetamol and a hot water bottle usually with a cuppa.
  • Hot water bottles, hot baths, paracetamol and sometimes some pressure over the uterus (like a firm massage).
  • Drinking an absolute ton of water, literally have alarms on every hour to down my bottle of water πŸ˜‚But just some painkillers and gentle movements like going for a walk or yoga are better than just sitting still the whole time.
  • Pooping and meds like Sdvil or Nurofen for me.
  • Hot water bottles and pain relief pills.
  • Hot water bottle, exercise, gentle stretching, chocolate 😁
  • My pain is in my lower back, so a hot compress, a lie down on a hard floor, while I wait for the Tylenol to kick in usually does the trick.
  • Eating and sleeping well, lots of water and gentle exercise.
  • Heat pads.
  • Chocolate – ha! Painkillers.
  • Hmm, warm compress and drinking lots of warm water. And rest.
  • Hot water bottle and rest.
  • Hot water bottle, pain killers, rest.
  • Painkillers, lying down, rubbing my stomach.
  • Being asleep through it.
  • I don't get period pain.
  • Strong painkillers, hot water bottle, warmth.
  • Painkillers and heat compression.
  • Ibuprofen.
  • Painkillers – strong ones. TENS machine (small electrical impulses) to distract painful cramps. Hot water bottle.
  • Pain medication and feeling sorry for yourself.
  • Advil/Tylenol.
  • Laying down in the foetal position, with a hot water bottle!
  • Time and rest.
  • Scrunching up on the sofa.
  • Laying down, paracetamol, a bottle of warm water in my back, a foot massage, asking my partner to cook something nice πŸ˜„
  • Ibuprofen (paracetamol does very little for me), hot water bottle and resting.
  • Hot water.
  • Psychology, painkillers, a different environment than usual.
  • My pain is so severe that my body and mind becomes exhausted so quickly from dealing with it so I can sleep for a collective 17-20 broken hours a day for the worst three days. Nothing helps the pain though. Max. dose of ibuprofen and paracetamol every 4-hours around the clock for a week. I was once prescribed a pill usually given to people after having mouth surgery to help clot the blood – that neither reduced the flow or the cramps. For me the only respite is my employer helping to relieve the guilt of missing work a couple of days each month. Clearing my thoughts just helps to let me rest.

  • Relaxing, ibuprofen, enthusiasm in gets to much, especially headaches. Paracetamol doesn't work then.
  • Lots of ibuprofen or aspirin. Hot water bottle. Husband rubbing my lower back.
  • Painkillers and hot water bottles (or heat stickers).

  • Hot water bottle, Feminax and chocolate!
  • Movement and snuggling.
  • Hot water bottle, Livia machine (delivers small electric pulses to abdomen), paracetamol and Buscopan and lying on the floor.
  • Breathing, remembering it'll be over very soon as it comes in waves. Curling up in a ball under a blanket and watching a heart warming film – if I am relaxed and not stressed it helps.
  • Rest. Painkillers. A walk.
  • Hot water bottles, doing really specific crab-like positions on the floor, moving around and paracetamol.
